Linemar Battery Operated Smoking Spaceman No. J4583 Japanese, circa early 1960s, grey tinplate robot with chrome detail, red feet, orange and black dial to chest, red eyes, clear dome to top of head, chrome on-off switch to front, battery compartments to both legs, back embossed with 'Linemar' logo and additionally 'Japan Linemar Co. Inc.', several actions including walking with swinging arms, flashing dome lights, flashing red eyes and smoke that puffs from the mouth, in box with card inserts and repaired colourfully illustrated lift off lid (E box F-G) 30 cm tall Literature See: Kitahara, Teruhisa, 100 Robots, Spaceships & other Tin Toys, Taschen, 1996, p.149 for similar example.
