A lady’s silver and enamel cigarette box, the lid decorated with a woman taking tea at a small table in front of large window, in tones of purple, cream, pink and blue, the body of the case in turquoise blue enamelling, the interior with a light gilt wash, the inside of lid hand engraved with ‘Kanui Tahu Aroha, September 29th 1923, J. Williamson and Ruth Cooper, Belle of the Oak Cavalier’, inside of lid and case stamped ‘sterling’ and Austro-Hungarian mark for .900 silver, (1866-1937). Minor rubbing to enamel. 9 x 6 cm
