A good Satsuma, Meiji period, earthenware vase with impressed signature: Kinkozan tsukuru. Of tapering square section with a flattened shoulder, cobalt glazed and detailed with gilded diaper patterns and flowers, each side with a panel, variously painted with minute detail with groups of samurai, geisha and families in landscapes and pavillions. A small mouth which rises from the shoulder has repair to a break. Height 15 cm
