Bjorn Weckstrom. Rare Ice Tounge pendent in sterling silver from the Space Series, Lapponia, Finland 1970. Bjorn Weckstrom, founded the company that was eventually named Lapponia in 1963. Over the decades, Weckstrom has won many international design awards and refined and broadened his styles. In 1970, he started to incorporate acrylic into his jewellery and designs. This neck piece is from the Space series, which was part of a range he designed for Princess Lea in ‘Star Wars’. Ice Tounge is hand-crafted sterling silver and acrylic and has a biomorphic form, the front has a “sand blasted” texture; the acrylic inset is clear with an internal glowing blue.
