An old Borneo long knife with finely carved bone handle end, stylised decoration, scrolls, etc., fine woven bound grip, the long tapered blade with two stepped sections towards the pointed end, the wooden scabbard with elephant tail strand binding. Length 69 cm Provenance: to the head water area of the Mahakam River, Kalimantan, ‘Not a tourist toy. This one has taken heads and was given to me as a gift by a man that worked for me as an interpreter’. Sword is named ‘Mandau’. A note with this provenance is attached
