Very rare and important pre-European stone carved Maori stone God sinker (mahe) or ballast stone, with carved double tiki figures. Pre European 17/18th century.of exceptional quality and superior to those in the British Museum, these fishing sinkers are extremely rare and their importance is shown by Te Papa putting one on their front cover of 'Toi Ora, ancestral Maori Treasures' book. Width 11 cm, height 11 cm
