Partial early contact period Maori trolling fish hook (pa kahawai). This hook has no wooden shank so is therefore an older pa kahawai as Maori figured out that paua shell alone was too thin to form strong shanks that could cope with the strain. No point lashed snood and line. Length 5 cm (excluding line)
