VR brass locomotive builders plate, 'No.6049, 1953. The Vulcan Foundry (Limited) Newton-Le-Willows Lancashire', chalked on reverse 'J 503', oval 23 x 13 cm. (the 'J Class' was built by the UK firm Vulcan foundry of Newton-le- Willows in 1953 and 1954. This class of 60 locomotives were a progression of the K class and were designed for easy conversion to standard gauge, the first thirty were built as coal burners and the final thirty were oil burners)
