A Japanese Shibiyama, lacquer and ivory two fold screen Meiji period, the two panels depicting three seated men in conversation with a nobleman, being entertained by a dance r and courtesan playing, the samisen, all before a prunus blossom in an ivory tripod vase on table and a large hanging vase with trailing chrysanthemum, all inlaid with shell, mother-of-pearl, ivory and coral, above smaller panels of further chrysanthemum, blossoms and a fan on a kinji lacquer ground, within an ivory frame with silver fittings and hinges, the reverse with panels of autumnal vegetation in gold, signed (Masahisa).
