A Chinese black lacquered and painted eight fold screen 19th century each panel well carved and painted on a black lacquer ground, with Buddhist Lohans in various ritualistic and symbolic poses in a mountain landscape within borders featuring rampant dragons and scrolling cloud, verso carved and painted with sacred deer in a wooded landscape of pine and plum trees, inscribed (the eighteen Lohans), sealed (Guan Xiu).
