Two 'Dehua' figures of Buddhist lions, Qing Dynasty, 18th/19th century, for use as taper holders, each seated on a rectangular plinth with head raised and mouth open biting a long ribbon attached to a brocade ball held beneath a raised forepaw, the mane, spine and tail applied with sprig-moulded locks of hair and smaller curls (2) 21 cm. Other Notes: Compare with a pair of lions bearing an inscription datable to 1644, illustrated by P.
