A set of six Morris & Co. Ebonised Ash Sussex chairs, circa 1870, comprising two carvers and six dining chairs each with rush seats and spindle backs together with two similar ebonised rush seated spindle back dining chairs (8) . Other Notes: the Sussex chairs is generally credited to the painter Ford Maddox brown, who discovered its antique archetype in a shop in sussex.
