Complete set of Poster Stamps advertising Amundsen's Fram Expedition books 'Die Eroberung des Sudpols' published in German by J.F. Lehmann's Verlag, Munich. These mini-posters, designed and printed by Marken-Kunst Munich, 1912, were used as advertising on letters sent through the mail. Each approx. 55 x 40 mm. Lithographically printed in full colour. A superb set in excellent condition. Roald Amundsen's South Pole expedition (1910-1912) was a Norwegian expedition aiming to be the first to reach the South Pole. The expedition was a success, with five of the mission (Amundsen, Bjaaland, Hanssen, Hassel and Wisting) arriving at the pole on 14 December 1911, beating Robert Falcon Scott and his ill-fated party by thirty-five days.
