Superb Chiefly Tewhatewha, orthodox form with 'axe' head, possibly stone tooled. Hole drilled on bottom edge of head. Long dark shaft decorated with heavily abstracted Mania extruding sharp terminating tongue. Early 19th century. Height 144 cm. Width 14 cm.
