A superb and rare gilt metal and enamel chaise pair cased clockwatch, c. 1780 with cylinder escapement and moonphase indication, Marriott, London, No. 213. Engraved gilt cylinder movement, pierced and engraved balance bridge, brass 5 arm balance, two barrels, going train with fusee. Large bell in back, soft enamel dial, Roman numerals, the other Arabic, inner scale calibrated for moonphase. Heavy pierced and engraved inner case, similarly pierced and engraved outer case. Soft enamel scene of courting couple surrounded by red pastes, front bezel rimmed with red pastes (2 missing). Diameter 13 cm
