Of note is a single entry on 2 August that he was on a patrol in ‘B of B’ and ‘F W Kurzier shot down’. A newspaper article with the diary confirms that the Beaufighters shot down the long range German plane over the Bay of Biscay. Another clipping refers to a crew member of Burgess, who had been awarded the Conspicuous Gallantry medal, the diary makes mention of his plane shooting down various Junkers and other German aircraft
