A very fine pair of cinnabar lacquer bowls, late Ming, 16/17th century, each one exquisitely carved with magpies amongst rocks and peony flowers, between lappet and key-fret borders, later silver liners. Diameter 11 cm. Height 7.5 cm. Although this design is typical of the period, these bowls are of exceptionally high quality and in excellent condition.
