A large collection of rare and exotic shells, comprising Australian and international shells including various turret, spindle, turban, bonnet, harp and olive shells, conches, whelks and cowries, contained within a brass bound oak specimen chest and a pine document box, together with two conchology references and a catalogue list (incomplete). Note: This collection of shells was amassed by the present owners grandfather Charles Gabriel, Honorary Associate in Conchology, National Museum of Victoria who is also the Co-author of the book marine Molluscs of Victoria, Melbourne University press
