A fine Japanese rosewood and lacquered charger Meiji period (1868-1912), the central circular lacquered panel depicting a scene of various birds in flight amongst a spray of foliate vines and floral blooms, the whole overlaid in mother of pearl, ivory, horn and further applied lacquered motifs, framed by a rosewood surround with scalloped rim and painted with a gilt vine leaf border interspersed with mother of pearl maki-e leaves, 60 cm diameter.
