A fabulous pair of house hold candle boxes from the Ballarat goldfields, 19th century. One box was designed to be permanently fitted to an inside wall, the other was portable. They were made to be safe from rats and mice (which liked the lanolin), made from tin with good closing lids and stained in the 'Marbling' manner to look like timber. These come with original candles and are very rare, 26 & 30 cm long. (2)
