A large outstanding exhibition quality Japanese carved ivory tusk, the tusk boldly carved in relief with an elephant defending itself from three tigers with a cloud form above the detailing. Finely engraved, the cover mounted with a sitting tiger. A pierced metal band supports the tusk to an equally impressive stand with a pierced bamboo decoration and shaped legs. Signed. Tusk 29 cm, stand 34 cm
