The regimental drum of the 15th north Auckland Regiment. This drum is shown in front of the 1933 dated photograph of the regimental Bank in the Regiment's official history, the Regiment would have had only one drum, much like a regimental colour - and they were highly treasured. This drum surfaced in a second hand store over 10 years ago and was sold by them by auction when it was purchased by our vendor, the drum has damage to one skin, the other in intact, the skin is easily replaced, the tear allows US to view 1930s and 1940s notations on the inside of the drum, these relate to a 1930 2 1/2รท size reduction and presumably the restringing of it at some stage. It is entirely hand painted with the regimental badge and Honours and those of it's allied regiment - the Northamptonshire Regiment, the drum is likely World War IVintage, quite possibly a gift to the Regiment from the Northamptonshire Regiment. Had it been post World War I it would have had the battle honours the Regiment gained during that war. This is exceedingly rare, unique and a Museum item.
