A World War II Diary Belonging to 42409 Sgt. Pilot M. Johnson, covering 1942, the diary relates to his enlistment and training at Trentham and then his journey into the Pacific. He ended the war serving in the UK, however the diary ends late 1942 although his list of pictures taken extends to 1943 and the UK. Of note is his account of the ceremony held when the ship crossed the Equator, (this is not often mentioned in detail), even though it was an important highlight of the journey by sea to the UK and remains so.
