A small collection of 13 Unpublished and Annotated photographs taken by a New Zealand rifle Brigade man serving as part of the Occupation Force in Germany, having served through the campaigns in France and Western Europe, including the fierce fighting at Le Quesnoy, the Nzrb were told that not only would they not be going home immediately, but that they would be part of the occupation of Germany. Worse was to come as they were expected to march there. During the occupation, which largely comprised sentry work in and around the Rhine, the men were billeted with German civilians, much to the dismay of both parties, the images show various scenes in Germany, of the battlefield at Armentieres and Bayeul, the New Zealand division Hq, Mulheim etc. And one identifies a “Sid”. 27879 Rifleman (later Sergeant) Sydney Goddard from Daniel Road, Ngaio, Wellington served with F.
