A George II style gilt-gesso side chair, late 19th/early 20th century, with double crested rail centred by a stylised shell with foliate strapwork, the shield shape splat with a painted panel depicting a putto riding a winged mythical bird within foliate strapwork, scrolling stiles, green velvet upholstered seat, the apron with a painted panel of putto and raised on cabiole legs with mask head knees and terminating in paw feet a set of similar chairs was sold at Sotheby's New York, 22 October 2010, lot 108.
