Bowes, two leather bound volumes, quarto, original gold-stamped red leather and spine, David Marples, Lord Street, Liverpool, printer originally published in 1875, this was the first major work in English looking at a wide range of Japanese ceramic Art. Illustrated with chromolithographs and photographic reproductions of drawings in duo tone and black and white, the author, George Ashdown Audsley (1838-1925) was an accomplished architect, artist, illustrator, decorator, author and pipe organ designer.
