A carved coral figural group, 19th/20th century, of two maidens standing beside a bird perched on a florette strewn tree trunk, one holding a hibiscus flower, the other a peony flower and basket of flowers, the coral of rich tone with slight white flecking, wood stand (2) 15.5 cm in China red coral is associated with auspiciousness and longevity because of its colour and resemblance to deer antlers.
