A West Australian 9ct yellow gold and mother of pearl brooch, c. 1910 by Donovan and Overland, the mother of pearl is carved into two birds sitting on a branch in a 9ct gold setting, with safety chain. Stamped 9ct and with a key, the Donovan and Overland makers mark. Length 45 mm. Reference Australian Jewellers, gold and Silversmiths, Makers and marks, by Cavill, Cocks and Grace, 1992, page 76 note, the firm of Donovan and Overland, manufacturing and wholesale Jewellers set up their workshop in William Street, Perth in 1897
