An 18ct yellow gold Western Australian Colonial miners nugget brooch by George Addis, Kalgoorlie c. 1900, the twist patterned bar, with curved ball finials, is decorated with a pick and shovel, nugget and suspended bucket, inscribed W.A. and having a safety chain. Stamped G.R. Addis, 18 width 5 cm. George Richard Addis (1864 and 1937) by 1895 he was established at 91 Hannon Street, Kalgoorlie. Best known for his firm's goldfield brooches. He apparently had one of the state's biggest collections of gold nuggets, which he occasionally displayed in his shop window. He sold the business to Caris Bros. in 1931.
