The sterling silver Presentation Pocket Watch Case of Richard John Shelton Maker's mark Ab, Chester 1878 Bearing the inscription 'Presented to Richard John Shelton by his father, Jany. 1st 1878.' Note: Reputedly the property of Richard John Shelton who was saved from drowning in Hughes Creek in Avenal by the ten year old Ned Kelly. The watch was presented to Shelton on his 21st birthday and was discovered during the restoration of a blacksmith's workshop in Avenal, Victoria.
