A pair of Australian silver plate and gilt metal mounted presentation emu eggs ovoid, each with an applied cartouche inscribed 'Presented to Alfred Cornwell Esq. By His Employees as a Token of Their Esteem, 30th July 1881', the lower section emanating fern leaves, above a naturalistic standard, the base applied with an Indigenous Australian figure, a kangaroo, gilt metal foliage and a coiled snake, surmounted by an emu finial, each with a wooden socle, 40.5 cm total height. Note: Alfred Cornwell, (1833-1890) founded the Brunswick pottery and Brickmaking works in 1859, the Company's output mainly consisted of industrial wares, however the modeller Graham Ferry produced an Indigenous Australian figure group at the factory for the 1880-81 Melbourne international Exhibition
