An Australian silver equestrian trophy cup and cover attributed to J.M Wendt, Adelaide circa 1890, the ogee body boldy embossed and engraved to either side with floriate wreaths and two vacant cartouches, flanked by scroll handles, the stem cast as a tree trunk with applied leafy branches, raised on a naturalistically cast base, the domed cover with a finial cast as a standing horse, lacking a maker's mark but hallmarked in two places on the foot with a lion passant, sterling and a Crown, 822 grs. Total weight of silver. Height 36.5 cm.
