A cloisonne vase, Meiji period circa 1880's, unsigned a good quality cloisonne vase featuring quail amongst autumnal flowers and grasses, copper mounts with stylized polychrome leaves and flowers to base and neck. Height 30 cm. Note: Quail and Millet design was first popular in Tosa school paintings of the 17th century, very popular in netsuke, but was also adopted by Kakiemon in 17th century and this influenced the European porcelain factories
