A fine quality 19th century carved ivory tankard French or German The cylindrical body carved in high relief with a continuous frieze depicting a Bacchinalian scene in a garden setting within foliate borders, flanked by a loop handle, naturalistically carved with a putto seated amongst foliage (the figure's left arm missing), terminating in an acanthus leaf thumb piece, the domed cover surmounted by a finial carved as a maiden playing a tambourine, (some losses and repairs), 33 cm high.
