A snuff box with presentation inscription, Edward Smith, Birmingham 1850 shaped rectangular, with foliate scrollwork enclosing a presentation inscription to the cartouche on the lid and matching engraving with an applied moulded wire to the base, traces of gilding to the interior, the lid engraved 'Presented / to / Mr Joseph Burgess / by the employees of / Messres Burgess & Darnell / as a mark of respect from that firm / Aug 1st 1870'. Height 2.25 cm. Length 9 cm. Depth 6 cm, weight 172gms.
