Aboriginal Wunda Shield, carved in hardwood, of elongated ovoid form. The front is decorated with deeply fluted zigzag design, articulated into an orthodox three-section form and infilled alternatively with bands of red and black natural earth pigments. The reverse offers incised longitudinal design. Strong traces of red ochre overall, with black-and-white stripes framing the detailed loop handle. 19th century. Length 69.5 cm, width 17.5 cm
