A rare bird's eye huon pine writing box, circa 1885, the rectangular shaped box inlaid with brass marquetry, huon pine, pauwa shell (mother of pearl), the hinged black sassafrass timber top, opening to reveal a japanned and silk lined interior together with a drawer incorporating fitted compartments and two ink containers and a leather covered writing slope.
