A Satsuma earthenware vase by Kinkozan, Meiji period, of baluster form, finely decorated in colours and gilding with a cockerel, hen and chicks among peonies, chrysanthemums, roses and other flowers in full bloom growing beside a blossoming tree entwined with flowering wisteria, a bird perched on a bough and further birds in flight among the gilt speckled clouds, all between gilt brocade borders at the base, shoulders and around the waisted mouth, the base signed Kinkozan Zo 26 cm
