A superb quality contact period late 18th century or early 19th century greenstone tiki, the greenstone colour is the most sought after, 'Pale green inanga' prized by the Maori chiefs for personal use. It has red wax eyes usually an addition at a later date when early white settlers brought sealing wax from Europe to secure envelopes, the vendors grandfather had no glue to fix a break on the lower legs so had a solid 9ct. gold cast made for the reverse.
