A pair of mahogany and ormolu mounted commodes in the Russian style, the carcass late 18th/early 19th century, altered and re-mounted after 1993, the stepped crossbanded tops above an ormolu dentil frieze, the panelled doors mounted with central sun bursts formed from fluted panels and lobbed rays within a panelled frame enclosed by bead mounted spandrels, with escutcheons unusually cast with bearded masks enclosing three drawers with circled star handles, the other commode with an adjustable shelf, the apron with imbricated mounts, flanked by canted corners mounted with triglyphs surmounted by laurel swags and fluted panels on fluted mounted square tapering legs. Extensively re modelled with added plinth top, central roundels and spandrels to doors re-designed as ormolu mounted sunbursts, originally inset with prints on a plain ground.
