A rare early 19th century ormolu mantel clock with centre seconds indication and fusee movement, Semaine cast with a young woman reading a book by lamplight at a table, on a plinth to a variegated marble base, the dial set into the drapes of the table and with gilt Roman numerals and blued steel hands, the circular spring driven movement with chain fusee and deadbeat 'Scape wheel mounted on the backplate to a short pendulum with heavy brass bob, the rod formed so as to allow for rear winding.
