A massive Japanese bronze model of an Indian bull elephant with ivory tusks by Genryusai Seiya, late 19th century, naturalistically cast as an elephant in mid stride, the head turned slightly to the left, the surface finished to resemble the rough, wrinkled texture of the animal's skin, two large ivory tusks inset into the sculpture, greenish-brown patina, signed in seal form Dai Nihon Genryusai Seiya zo. Height 100 cm. Width 70 cm
