A rare 19th century English mahogany longcase clock of long duration, the dial signed for Daniel Grant, Fleet Street, London. (the case possibly associated) .the arched hood with concave moulding over ebony-line inlaid corner pieces, the well figured long trunk door with simply moulded edge, over a panel base with applied shaped moulding, to a bracket base, the cheeks built up to support the retouched 12 inch circular Roman dial with pierced spade hands, the weight driven movement with six latched, knopped and finned pillars uniting the main plates carrying the barrel and six-wheel train terminating in a small, solid anchor 'Scape wheel; further set with another plate mounted to the front plate that carries the counter-balanced motion work, the hammer and the bell, the pendulum is 66 inches in length in total, (the central wooden rod accounting for some 57 inches of this) and is secured to a brass bracket mounted on the backboard, with steel suspension spring attached to an engraved rating nut mounted above, the weight is a brass-clad 18th century longcase weight and runs on a six-spoke pulley, 1.88m
