An important and privately commissioned Victorian silver and silver-gilt table service of flatware, cutlery and salt cellars, the majority by Robert Garrard, London 1837, with exception of some pieces by Mary Chawner, London 1837 & 1839, the table service handles struck with floral sprays, ribbons and grapes in high relief, and comprising:- eighteen fluted serving spoons, twenty-four fruit knives with chased silver-gilt blades, twenty-four fruit knives with steel blades, a pair of ice servers and a pair of salt spoons, and four salt cellars of hexagonal form with scroll and flowerhead borders above lattice-work decoration, the following items by Mary Chawner, London 1837 & 1839:- twenty-four dessert forks, twenty-four dessert spoons, twenty-four ice spoons, two pairs of grape scissors, a cream ladle and a sugar shifter, all in a fitted canteen with brass plate engraved 'The Rt. Hon. Earl of Listowell, No. 10' and a paper R & S Garrard list to the inside lid, weight 8866gms.
