A Very Early Chatham Islands Patu - Hand Club, extremely rare stone patu in classic Chatham Island abstract bird form. Flat oval section. Believed to be a possible precursor to the waihaika form in wood. Skinner describes it as Porphyrio melanotis (Pukeko) form made from schist and was probably used to kill seals. Archaic, Length 28 cm Width 11 cm.
