Tekoteko Aro - carved ancestral figure - central post of Meeting house, an important timber archetectural element, the Poutokomanawa depicted celebrated ancestral leaders and supported the base of the centre post at the front of the meeting house. Dignified expression with neutral gaze. Moko on chin indicates high ranking female possible wife of leader. Muscular shoulders carved with double raurau in triple waewae form delineated with dragon tooth notching. Hands resting openly on stomach. Strong legs turned inwards again with triple waewae form delineated with dragon tooth notching. Height 60.5 cm. Width 19.5 cm D9.5 cm.
