Heavily sawn giant pounamou slab, a remarkable example of the scale of labour undertaken by the early Maori master craftsmen. Incomplete and representative of phase three of toki Pou Tangata style. Front and back faces are flat and smoothly polished. A medium light pounamu (nephrite). Pre European, classic period. Length 35.8 cm. Width 13.8 cm.
