An Australian cedar and rose mahogany Pembroke work table, circa 1830, the rectangular top with fiddle back cedar veneer and drop leaves above two short drawers with later ebony handles (two original ones are with the piece), above a sliding sewing basket, raised on delicately carved spiral and ring turned tapering legs; 41 cm wide, 60 cm deep, 70 cm high; Note This table shows the influence of Duncan Fyfth, a Scottish cabinet maker who immigrated to New York where he created his own distinct style.
