A Very Rare 1936 4.5 litre 'Straight Eight' Lanchester Drophead Coupe Sports. Ordered by the Maharajah Digvijaysinhji from Lanchester, the body styled and built by Vanden Plas Coach Builders, Chassis No. 41296. (Daimler had stopped manufacturing Lanchester's however they built six more for the Duke of York and the Maharajah as they were staunch Lanchester enthusiasts). This particular one for auction is the only one of its kind in the world. In 2000 it won 2nd prize at Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance. Also it has been on show in Auto Museums in the U.S.A., (The Black Hawk Auto Museum, Danville (near San Francisco), The Petersen Auto Museum, Los Angeles and The San Diego Auto Museum), then brought to New Zealand.
