Superb Maori 19th century flax and kiwi feather cloak, c. 1840s, some feathers missing at bottom but could be restored by Maori expert. Has stitch ribbing on back to fold around one shoulder. Provenance: Returned from Los Angeles. Previously owned by New Zealand actress May Beatty (our vendors grandmother). Housed in Los Angeles County Museum of natural History since 1964. Possibly taken to the USA by Hinemoa Lauri in the 1920's. (La Museum label attached). Length 100 cm. Width 150 cm
